In Search of the Divine Vegetal - 2007
From the Amazon jungles to downtown Canada, ideas about Ayahuasca revive a decades-old argument about the uses and abuses, the ecstasies and the efficacies of mind-altering plants. Ayahuasca has been part of shamanic tradition for centuries. Broadcasters Thomas McKinnon and Leonard Cler-Cunningham travel the old trails, attend the ceremonies, and debate the religious, economic and political questions surrounding the divine vegetal. Among the people interviewed are Jessica Rochester (Canadian Santo Daime Leader), Alex Polari de Alverga (Brazilian Santo Daime Leader), Jacques Mabit (Takiwasi Center, Peru) and Dennis McKenna (Researcher).

Interview with Jacques Mabit on Tobacco - November 2006
Interview by François Delonnay made at the Takiwasi Center, on 17/11/2006. Tobacco (Nicotiana rustica) has accompanied the inhabitants of the Americas since ancient time. It is estimated that it has been cultivated and used in different ways for thousands of years. It even seems to have been the first plant regularly cultivated in the Americas. In the Amazon, smoking tobacco currently has two connotations: the peasant's habit when going to the farm and its healing or ceremonial use. In the healing context, the act of smoking always follows a previous use of solid or liquid preparations. This chronological order of ingestion shows a deep respect for the same order of life. The orderly development of these stages in the perceptible world symbolizes a transcendent law which governs all human becoming.

Use of Tobacco by a French therapist - November 2006
Interview with Fabienne Bâcle, psychotherapist at the Takiwasi Center, which uses procedures inspired by Amazonian ancestral knowledge to deal with addiction to smoked tobacco, which is usually accompanied by excessive consumption of other potentially addictive substances. Similarly, the ritualized use of liquid tobacco extracts shows great interest as a facilitator of psychotherapeutic approaches, allowing blocked processes to be unlocked quickly and effectively. In addition to physical detoxification, it stimulates the dream life, allows patients to reconnect with their inner world and provides them with mental clarity, feeling of strength, ability to concentrate and emotional stability. It reactivates the spiritual dimension and promotes the restoration of a deep sense of life.

Yawar Panga Ritual Ceremony - October 2006
The ritual ceremony of Yawar Panga is a specific healing act originally from the High Amazon Basin of Peru, designed to operate a deep cleaning of the body of the participants. It consists in the ingestion of juice from the fresh leaves of a climbing plant identified as Aristolochia didyma S. Moore (family Aristolochiaceae), complemented with a ritual environment made of sacred chants (ikaros), vitalizing blows of black tobacco smoke that the shaman directs towards his patient and the rhythmic sound produced by the beating of the shacapas. Yawar Panga proves to be a very useful plant in the treatment of all types of intoxication, particularly in the first phase of the treatment of drug addiction.

The contribution of chamanism in psychotherapy - July 2006
Lecture by Jacques Mabit, Physician. Since 1986 he has been in touch with Amazonian healers and, after his own initiatory process, he founded the Takiwasi Center in the Upper Amazon, where he proposes a therapeutic protocol based on the interaction of indigenous ancestral knowledge and practices of contemporary psychotherapy, associating in a multi-disciplinary team healers, doctors and psychologists. The ritual of master Ignacio - 2006
Master Ignacio acts with different instruments: perfumes, tobacco and the spirits of water. His ritual work involves preparing the person by eventually making him ingest tobacco or perfumes or plants associated with them, then take him to the river where he is asked to lie in the water, with his head under water, to do a process of cleansing, purification and reinforcement.

Heir - transmission of traditional medical knowledge - 2005
Master healers consider the art of healing as a gift that comes from God through the spirits of plants. What we have observed in the Takiwasi Center, based on our experience and contacts with master healers, is that the gift manifests itself at the precise moment when they are being curem from an illness. Therefore, first they are patients, who have gone to the doctor to be treated for some physical or spiritual evil. When the gift manifests itself, masters often say that "the plant loves you", and invite the person to continue taking the teacher plants, this time not to cure the illness, but to start the learning process. Through the process of healing-learning the person will discover his art, method and specialty. Throughout the process he will be accompanied by his master, because in the Amazon it is not conceivable to take the teacher plants without a guide that help us re-find our way.
