The "dieta" is an very profound work involving the inner self and providing very good results only when participants accept and commit to some simple rules. Failure to respect these rules can nullify the effect of the plants but may also result in energy crossings ("cruzadera") with serious physical, mental and spiritual consequences. It is a process that requires each participant to engage very responsibly.
The first element to be carried out in preparation for a "dieta" is a plant purging session. This will take place prior to the retreat in the jungle.
The "dieta" in the jungle is opened with an ayahuasca ceremony. There is another ayahuasca session after the "dieta" in order to bring closure to the overall healing process.
The overall retreat for Veterans and First Responders is followed by a "post-dieta" period that is as important as the "dieta" itself. It involves various dietary rules and restrictions over a total period of one month (more details below). This time is necessary for the assimilation and integration of the plants' energies which were incorporated during the "dieta". Undertaking the retreat for Veterans and First Responders involves committing to these mandatory rules. As indicated above, failing to follow such rules may lead to energetic complications with physical, mental or spiritual consequences.
The energy charge of menstruations is not compatible with the energies mobilized during an ayahuasca session, so if you are menstruating, you will not be able to participate in the ayahuasca session. Please take this into consideration when choosing the date in order to fully benefit from the experience of the retreat in Takiwasi. No exceptions can be made. However, the menstrual period does not affect the participation in the purgative plant intake and in the actual "dieta" taking place in the jungle.
Since the slightest smell can seriously affect the energy work, it is forbidden, during the "dieta" in our botanical reserve, to use any kind of beauty or cleaning products (soap, perfume, toothpaste, shampoo, conditioner, repellent, essential oils, etc.). This includes all odorant products like oils, nail polish, candles, incense, etc. You will have at your disposal water and a special soap made by the Takiwasi laboratory. Other items that you cannot bring with you are music equipment, radio, cellphone, tablet, watch, money or personal documents.
Takiwasi shall not be held responsible for loss or deterioration of valuables that you take with you to the jungle retreat.
You should bring with you cotton clothes, towel, coat, flashlight and spare batteries, 2 or 3 books and a notebook to write or draw. Extra food in addition to the one proposed by the Center is not allowed. Please bring white or light-colored clothes for the ayahuasca ceremony.
We will provide you with: two sheets, a blanket, pillowcase, mineral water, perfume-free soap, toilet paper, mosquito net for the bed, and a hammock.
