Testimony of a participant in a Retreat/Diet
"Coming from a long troubled time in my life, I found at Takiwasi much more of what I was looking for.
At my arrival I was mistrustful, then gradually I integrated and understood the philosophy of the place and gave myself the maximum chance to allow the process to succeed. Very observant at first, I approached the Ayahuasca ceremony with less and less apprehension. I felt like I was where I needed to be. That everything was perfect, that everything was in the right place and that everything happened at the right time and in the best conditions.
My session was very revealing, I had many visions, on several occasions I felt possessed by the plant, in general I felt a force taking hold of me against which it was useless to fight. So I decided to surrender to it, to let myself go, to accept. At times I even accepted death because the feeling of surrender was much too strong, then regularly one of the healers came to "bring me back" to life. A great feeling of love characterized the session, love towards my loved ones, love towards life and nature. For my part, I tried to face it with dignity and authenticity and what I got in return is based on the same fundamentals.
The Ayahuasca session revealed a number of things, but the most surprising and intense part of my experience lays in the days of retreat in the jungle. A notion of inner growth by deprivation has settled in me. By this I mean that we have always been brought up to think that it is in abundance that we find happiness, but the jungle gently taught me that it is rather the opposite. And for that I never cease to give thanks. The days in the jungle completed the work of Ayahuasca. I learned to forgive and above all I learned to let go of the things of the past.
I arrived at Takiwasi full of anger, I left full of love, and almost two months later, I consider that the anger that has long inhabited my mind and my body, is no longer part of me."

New inter-institutional cooperation agreements
In the last few weeks, the Takiwasi Center has signed two new inter-institutional cooperation agreements to strengthen links and alliances with different local institutions. Thus, an agreement was signed with the San Martín Departmental Pharmaceutical Chemist College represented by dean Alberth Agusto Tamani Zevallos. Another agreement was signed with the Regional Government of San Martín, whose objective is to facilitate the development of strategic projects that promote the conservation of Amazonian biodiversity resources and the revaluation of Amazonian ancestral and alternative medicine with native products of the region.

Medicinal plant gardens project in alliance with schools
One of the lines of work of the Takiwasi Natural Products Laboratory is to contribute to the creation of a regional identity based on the knowledge of traditional medicine, which has been transmitted from generation to generation in indigenous communities. With this in mind, we have been collaborating with the Virgen Dolorosa high-school in the creation of a garden of medicinal plants that allows children and adolescents to learn about this knowledge, both in its physical aspect and in its spiritual dimension, and internalize it as a fundamental part to their identity.

Canta la Ayahuasca - Healing Ikaros
Ikaros are essential elements of Traditional Amazonian Medicine and constitute a source of cultural resistance by preserving both linguistic elements and knowledge related to Amazonian world-view and medicinal resources, which go back in time to the original cultures. They are the essential means to transmit wisdom and healing practices. This concept led us to call our center "Takiwasi" that in Quechua means "the house that sings" or "the house of song", to honor this tradition.
On our website we offer for sale the ikaros sung by the healers of Takiwasi. The revenues generated from the sale of these products is entirely destined to support Takiwasi in the treatment and rehabilitation of people with limited economic resources who suffer from drug addiction.

Takiwasi Center Online Courses
We want to invite you to enroll in our online courses:
- Introducción al modelo terapéutico Takiwasi:
11 pre-registered classes taught in Spanish by the therapeutic team of the Takiwasi Center. Topics such as Traditional Amazonian Medicine are addressed, including the presentation of specific techniques such as plant baths and purges, and the application of Western psychological approaches in the treatment of addictions, such as existential psychotherapies and the analysis of trans-generational inheritances.
-
Coherencias entre la iniciación cristiana y la iniciación amazónica: taught in Spanish by Dr. Jacques Mabit, course based on 5 pre-registered videos. The experience of the Takiwasi Center shows us that there are numerous and surprising points of coherence and convergence between the Christian faith and Amazonian shamanism (when correctly understood and practiced). This course attempts to highlight the relevance of bringing these two paths of knowledge closer together and articulating them appropriately in favor of opening new paths for the healing of the body, mind and spirit.
