Master Plant Diet Participant Testimony

Brazilian psychologist Karla Perdigão offers a testimony about her experience in the master plant diets in Takiwasi. Karla came to Takiwasi as part of her personal professional journey, researching the therapeutic interaction between medicinal plants and psychology. The master plant diets offered her the possibility of working on herself, reaching certain inner contents that she had not been able to deal with during her classic personal therapeutic process, and at the same time the diets gave her greater motivation and direction to continue with her research and with her profession, also allowing Karla to attend to her patients in a more comprehensive way.

Metamorphosis at Takiwasi

Artist Arno Louis has created some short one minute animations on different types of spiritual healing retreats. One of these animations shows the experience lived by David Schindler, who participated in a personal development seminar at the Takiwasi Center.

Review of the graphic project
A stop-motion that transcribes three different spiritual retreats. We immerse ourselves in a visual universe between collage and painting, these two visual languages have their symbolism and give life to various characters. All of them have their own metamorphoses according to their retreat contexts.

Adopt an Ayahuasca

Carlos Ijuma has worked at the Takiwasi Center for more than 20 years, taking care of the plants preparations and accompanying the participants in the therapeutic processes of retreat-diet, among other activities. In this video he tells us a little about the process of planting and caring for Ayahuasca vines within the framework of the conservation project "Adopt an Ayahuasca".

At Takiwasi we have been planting Ayahuasca and other master plants for more than 25 years in our Botanical Reserve, a protected area of 54 hectares located inside the Cordillera Escalera conservation area. Our desire to protect and preserve Ayahuasca is also expressed through the advocacy work we carry out. We have been the main promoters of the recognition of Ayahuasca as "Cultural Heritage of the Peruvian Nation" in 2008.

Support us and our conservation actions by adopting an Ayahuasca vine or another teacher plant. Find out how to participate in our web page.

Training for indigenous communities on
post-harvest handling of Cat's Claw

Last March, the Takiwasi Laboratory hosted a training workshop for its allies from the native Kichwa Lamista community of Chirik Sacha and the Ampik Sacha Medicinal Plant Producers Association.

Thanks to the support of the Forest Program of the National Forest and Wildlife Service - SERFOR, 17 indigenous men and women traveled from their communities to our laboratory located in the city of Tarapoto to deepen their technical knowledge on post-harvest management of Cat's Claw (Uncaria tormentosa).

This example that reflects the careful work of the Takiwasi Laboratory and its allies to ensure the quality of each natural product brought to the market.
