The Master Plant Diet: A Technology to Reconnect and Heal

Based on his research in the Amazon and his personal experience with medicinal plants, university professor David Manuel-Navarrete reflects on reconnecting with the body, emotions, and other dimensions of human experience.

In this testimonial, he shares the feelings, experiences and messages he encountered through the ingestion of mucura and bobinsana, two of the master plants used at Takiwasi.

He also describes how the master plant diet and the period of isolation in the forest transformed his understanding of health, consciousness and his own relationship with nature.

From a Dream to a Profession: Juan Carlos Completes His Psychology Studies

In October 2026, Juan Carlos García Shupingahua achieved a major milestone: he successfully defended his thesis to obtain his professional degree in Psychology, thus completing five years of university studies at César Vallejo University in Lima, Peru.

This achievement takes on special significance when considering the journey this young man has undertaken, without family support and while living with a severe visual impairment. This condition has presented additional challenges in his daily life and educational journey, which he has faced with admirable strength and determination.

His university education was made possible thanks to the ongoing support and guidance of Takiwasi, together with the financial assistance provided by the Fondation Vermont (France), which gave him the means to continue his studies and achieve this important professional milestone

The Silent Woman and the Talking Vine. Amazonian Vegetalism, Incest and Interculturation

Nicolas Molodtzoff's Master's thesis in Intercultural Clinical Psychology, from the University of Toulouse 2 Jean-Jaurès (France), is now available in English.

The research explores the encounter between Amazonian vegetalismo and clinical psychology, examining how therapeutic processes involving medicinal plants can contribute to the healing of individuals who have experienced incestuous sexual abuse during childhood.

Discover Takiwasi's Books

Editorial Takiwasi was created with the purpose of preserving, publishing, and disseminating knowledge, experiences, and research related to traditional Amazonian medicines, mental health, spirituality, and dialogue between different forms of knowledge that often struggle to find an appropriate place in the conventional publishing world.

We already published several books, including Canta la Ayahuasca: Ikaros y enseñanzas de las plantas medicinales amazónicas, by Dr. Rosa Giove, available in both digital and print formats. It brings together research on ikaros and the transcriptions of 61 of these healing chants.

The book Ayahuasca: Revelaciones de lo Sagrado, by psychologist Víctor Lucia Sánchez, proposes a dialogue between biblical symbolism and the master plants of the Amazon.

El discernimiento de los espíritus: evolución y cuestiones terapéuticas, by Thibault Luycx, therapist at Takiwasi, explores the discernment of spirits and its implications for therapeutic processes from a historical, theological, and anthropological perspective.
