Healing Ptsd with traditional Amazonian medicine

Many military veterans have been looking for emotional and psychological healing through psychedelic-assisted therapy. There is a general trend for people to push for this new type of therapy, because it’s providing to have some good results. Still, most of these therapies lack of depth, as they tend to just touch the surface of the problem.

The intensity of the wounds associated with PTSD demands in-depth healing, which traditional Amazonian medicine can provide when practiced in alignment with its traditions and rituals. Plant medicine can provide highly positive and transformative results, offering a unique opportunity for emotional release and self-discovery. True healing requires sustained effort, support, faith, and patience: the mental health healing journey is a long-term commitment.

Hermanos de Melodías - Ikaros in music

A new production of ikaros set to music by the artists Alejo & Simon, who have kindly authorized us to sell these recordings and thus generate a new small income for Takiwasi.

Hermanos de Melodías is the meeting of Alejo Rodríguez and Simon Lagarrosse in Takiwasi. The two musicians, guitarists and singers join in a very strong friendship in life and especially in music, hence the name: “Brothers of Melodies”. All the songs presented here are ikaros (healing songs) that are sung during Ayahuasca ceremonies. They freely interpret for us, with their own musical arrangements, the ikaros that accompanied their therapeutic process for many months and have greatly contributed to their healing and spiritual journey. The purpose of these recordings is to pay tribute to traditional Amazonian medicine, the master plants, the healers and all the staff of the Takiwasi Center.

Long-Term Effects of Master Plant Diets

Our research team's new talk, titled: "Long-term effects of master plant diets" will be broadcast through our Facebook Live on Tuesday, March 25 at 11:00 am (Peru time).

Tereza Rumlerová PhD thesis in Psychology, was focused on studying the master plant diet developed in Takiwasi, analysing the long-term effects experienced by a group of participants. The data collected has allowed to analyse the motivations of the people to undertake this therapeutic process, as well as the lived experience and the personal changes perceived at different levels (physical, psychological, social, spiritual). The main reasons for participating in a diet are usually self-discovery, personal development, interest in plant medicine and professional fulfilment. The experience of the diet is perceived as intense and allows participants to experience self-acceptance, self-discovery, mental balance, rest, physical detoxification and connection with nature.

For those who were unable to attend, we are also sharing the video of the previous research talk: "Exploring the use of master plant diets in Europe", now available on our YouTube channel.
