The different bodies
Dear friends, we share with you a new short article by Dr. Jacques Mabit.
A key stumbling block in the interaction between Western thought and medicine, on the one hand, and traditional thought and medicine, on the other, is a different conception of the body. Here we will briefly, simply and schematically present the main differences between these divergent conceptions.

Nature beings and the etheric body
In this new article by Dr. Jacques Mabit we propose to address the little-discussed and confusing subject of nature beings. In the mapping of the invisible world, their place is often poorly defined and wrongly associated with disembodied spirits. For contemporary modernity, they simply do not exist. Knowledge of these beings and their mode of operation is, however, fundamental to explain numerous so-called paranormal phenomena (sleepwalking, the presence of ghosts, etc.) and pathological behaviors in human beings that do not find a conventional medical explanation. These disorders are essentially associated with their etheric body, which we will try to describe succinctly. As an illustrative example of the universality of their presence and their mode of behavior, we will consider in a little more detail the case of mermaids and elves with “uneven feet.”

New Testimonial from a Retreat/Diet Participant
"I decided to participate in the diet of May 2024 and it was a unique, enriching experience, for which I am very grateful to the entire Takiwasi team for the care and patience they had with me. I didn't know how much the psychological interviews would help me, but I do feel that they helped me a lot to dispel doubts, fears and to finally be able to move forward in certain things in which I needed a little push, the diet helped me a lot.
During the diet I felt very safe, it was a time to find myself, to open my mind and heart, it started out very hard, this helped to take things with patience and understand that everything is a process, and I repeat that the psychological follow-up was important to understand what was happening with my thoughts, dreams and visions, it was super important; and now many months after being in that little hut, on that mountain, in that jungle, finally those seeds are bearing fruit. I asked for more conviction in my decisions and now that is what is happening in my life. My career has grown enormously and my personal life has also improved a lot thanks to the chuchuwasi, tobacco, ushpa washa, rosa sisa, mucura and all the plants and little trees, butterflies, ants, mosquitoes and monkeys, who were there with me taking care of me and cleaning me; they are now part of me.”

The Master Plant Diet to Reconnect and Learn from Nature
We share the video of our research team's most recent talk in Spanish, entitled: "The Master Plant Diet to Reconnect and Learn from Nature."
In this conversation an overview of the diet is provided based on the research carried out at Takiwasi in recent years and we will focus on analyzing the potential that this therapeutic tool has to modify the relationship between man and nature.

Art Exhibition: “Initiatory Visions”
Art Exhibition of works by Randy Chung Gonzales, artist and healer friend of Takiwasi, at the Center for the Study of World Religions - Harvard University.
Artist’s Statement: “My art changed dramatically in 2016 after I accompanied anthropologist Frédérique Apffel-Marglin to an ayahuasca ceremony led by a local shaman. Although I had no intention or desire to become a healer, I was transformed through initiation by spirits or discarnate beings, resulting in a surprising and intensive experience occurring over almost four years. During that time, my art changed from painting on canvas with colored oil paints to drawings on paper with a black felt-tip pen. It emerges from somewhere unbeknownst to me, coming directly from my fingers without first becoming conscious.”

Ikaros Catalogue
We share the complete catalogue of our ikaros, which includes the new production made to celebrate the 30 years of work in Takiwasi of our director Jaime Torres.
The ikaros are essential elements of Traditional Amazonian Medicine and constitute a source of cultural resistance by preserving both linguistic elements and knowledge related to Amazonian world-view and medicinal resources. They are the essential means of transmitting wisdom and healing practices. This concept led us to call our center "Takiwasi" that in Quechua means "the house that sings" or "the house of song", to honor this tradition.
