Seminar on the integration between Amazonian medicine and Western psychotherapy

Given the growing interest in alternative medicines and the global trend of the use of psychedelics in mental health problems, for the first time Takiwasi offers an introductory and experiential seminar for students in the health area (medicine, psychology, obstetrics, nursing), from February 19 to March 2, 2024.

For 2 weeks, the seminar will feature training workshops, integration workshops, plant intake (Purga and Ayahuasca), individual and group psychotherapy, as well as a 4-day retreat/diet. The seminar is intended for students of health sciences (medicine, psychology, obstetrics, nursing) and speaking Spanish.

Sharing Rosa Giove's study on icaros

Last October, doctor and psychologist Susana Bustos was invited to speak at the Women's Visionary Congress in Berkeley, California, which had remained dormant during the pandemic and reopened its doors in 2023. This congress has been organized annually since 2007 and has become a platform to amplify the voices of women who have extensive experience and commitment in the field of psychedelic substances. Its objective is to promote deep and provocative dialogue of new ideas with women who have worked in this field for many years.

This year, the central theme of the conference was: Renewal - Drawing on traditions to inform the present. Dr. Bustos has dedicated an important part of her professional career to the study of icaros, which has been inspired and enriched since the beginning by Dr. Rosa Giove. The title of her presentation was “Rosa Giove's legacy to the study of icaros” and included personal stories of her experience with Dr. Rosa's icaros, hearing some of the icaros sung by Rosa, her story, and part of the results of the study that Rosa had been developing for several years and that are found in a book not yet published. The presentation was received with deep interest and curiosity by the participants and sparked interest in supporting the publication of the book in Spanish and English. With the support of Takiwasi, Susana leads the project of working on the publication of this important book during 2024, in honor of Dr. Rosa's life and her contribution to the field of studies on icaros.
