The Ayahuasca Treatment Outcome Project - ATOP is an international research project in which several countries have been collaborating such as Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Peru, among others. The objective is to systematically evaluate the therapeutic effects and the effectiveness of the treatment of addictions based on the articulation of traditional Amazonian medicine, including the use of ayahuasca, and modern psychotherapy.

After a verification process run by PromPerú regarding the compliance with the BioTrade Principles and Criteria, it has been confirmed that the Takiwasi Center, through its production unit Takiwasi Laboratory, meets the standards of BioTrade and has received the authorization to use the "Bio Comercio Perú" logo (BioTrade Peru).
During the last International Transpersonal Conference 2017, held in Prague (29/9 – 1/10) Dr. Jacques Mabit presented a lecture called: “Ayahuasca use in the new-age context”.
On September 21st 2017 an event was held to present the book "Foros Internacionales: Espiritualidad Indígena y Mundo Occidental" (International Forums: Indigenous Spirituality and the Western World), that was also a chance to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Takiwasi Center.
To celebrate the 20 years of the BioTrade initiative, the United Nations published an important document presenting the results achieved, which compiles the most interesting initiatives in this sector, developed in several countries including Peru, Colombia, Vietnam and Brazil.
